Kim Coble Announces Retirement as Executive Director of the Maryland League of Conservation Voters and Maryland League of Conservation Voters Education Fund
Longtime environmental champion for Maryland led organizations to new heights over the course of a seven-year tenure
Annapolis, MD (June 4, 2026) – The Maryland League of Conservation Voters (MD LCV) and Maryland League of Conservation Voters Education Fund announced today that Executive Director Kim Coble will be retiring after a distinguished career advocating for environmental conservation. Coble will continue in her role during the search for her successor.
Coble was hired as Executive Director in 2019 and, since then, has taken both organizations to new heights, tripling the organization’s size during her tenure. With that growth came notable victories in the legislature and at the ballot box. She led the Maryland LCV team that championed the passage of the historic Climate Solutions Now Act of 2022, setting the most ambitious state-level greenhouse gas reduction goals in the country and making Maryland a national climate leader. She also led Maryland LCV to an early endorsement of now-Governor Wes Moore in the Democratic Gubernatorial Primary in 2022. Coble previously worked at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and served as Vice President of Environmental Protection and Restoration.
“I have had the privilege of knowing Kim for nearly 20 years,” Maryland League of Conservation Voters Chairman of the Board Patrick Miller said. “She has done incredible work at Maryland LCV and has made it exponentially stronger than when she arrived. Her impact extends well beyond Annapolis and into every corner of our state.”
“Every person who breathes Maryland’s healthy air, enjoys our clean waters, or relaxes in our vibrant public spaces owes a debt of gratitude to Kim Coble,” said Maryland League of Conservation Voters Education Fund Chairwoman Kitty Thomas. “Maryland is a healthier place because of her.”
“Serving as the Executive Director of Maryland LCV for the past seven years has been an absolute honor,’ Coble said. “I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with our talented staff, dedicated Board members, and inspiring Administration officials and legislative leaders. Together, we have made meaningful strides to protect Maryland’s environment, and I am incredibly proud of what we accomplished.”
With a strong financial foundation and experienced team in place, Maryland LCV and Maryland LCV Education Fund Boards seek to find a dynamic new leader to serve as the next Executive Director for the organizations. Recruitment for the next Executive Director has begun, and the position description is now available at https://www.mdlcv.org/work-with-us and https://www.marylandconservation.org/work-with-us.
During Coble’s tenure at Maryland LCV, she:
- Helped pass landmark legislation, including the Clean Energy Jobs Act and the Climate Solutions Now Act of 2022.
- Served as co-chair of the Maryland Commission on Climate Change and the Commission’s Mitigation Work Group.
- Served as co-chair of Governor Moore’s Environment Transition Team.
- Oversaw the expansion of the organization’s annual fundraising event, Changemakers, which has raised more than two million dollars.
- Launched Friday Digest and Conservation Conversations, from the MD LCV and the MD LCV Education Fund, respectively, to give voters more timely information about legislation and issues affecting Maryland’s environment.
- Launched an annual Legislator educational summit, as well as legislative Lobby Day, which allows voters to speak one-on-one with their legislators.
- Published an annual Scorecard and biannual Governor’s Report Card, giving voters an easy guide to inform decisions in the voting booth, and implemented revisions to bolster accountability.
- Elected 90% of endorsed candidates, including an endorsed governor in a very crowded race in 2022.
